Introducing the Piaget Polo 79 watch with a captivating two-tone design This makes the raised details stand out even more.

Two years ago, Piaget reintroduced its iconic Polo watch. The 18K yellow gold Polo 79 perfectly celebrated the brand's 150th anniversary. For those who found the watch a bit too flashy, Piaget released the Polo 79 in 18K white gold last year. And if you find the 18K white gold version too understated, then Piaget's new two-tone Polo 79, released today, might be more to your liking. This new Polo 79 features an 18K white gold brushed case, with polished 18K yellow gold raised details adorning the dial. Compared to the previous two models, this two-tone Polo 79 better highlights its unique structural features.

I still remember RJ returning from the launch of the 18K yellow gold Piaget Polo 79 watch two years ago. He's recently developed a fondness for gold jewelry, so he raved about the watch he tried on at the launch event. To be honest, while I also like it, it's a bit too flashy for me, which is why I was delighted when Piaget released the 18K white gold version last year. However, this new two-tone version might be the best yet. Let's take a look.

Piaget Polo 79 Two-Tone

As Mr. Yves Piaget said, the Piaget Polo watch is both a bracelet and a wristband watch. Its most striking feature is its modular structure, seemingly running the entire dial. In this sense, this two-tone Polo 79 isn't significantly different from the previous two reissues. It still features a 38mm case, 7.45mm thick, and its all-gold construction makes it weigh approximately 200 grams. The white gold sections are horizontally brushed, contrasting sharply with the mirror-polished slim strap. The hour and minute hands are now made of gold, complementing the design that extends from the contrasting white gold sections of the dial.

The watch houses the Piaget 1200P1 automatic movement. This ultra-thin movement, only 2.35 mm thick, uses an off-center micro-rotor for winding. It vibrates at 21,600 times per hour, has 25 jewels, and a power reserve of approximately 44 hours. The movement's ultra-thin structure and exquisite finishing can be admired through the sapphire crystal case back.

The best version yet?

As I mentioned before, I liked the all-gold version, but it felt a bit too ostentatious. The all-white gold version suited me better, but I must admit it seemed to lack something. This new two-tone version is just right for me. It's not as dazzling as the all-gold version, but the contrasting gold elements make it more visually appealing than the all-white gold version. In some ways, it reminds me of the Cartier Santos two-tone watch, which also features a stainless steel case with a gold bezel and screws.

The brushed white gold elements give the Piaget Polo 79 a sportier look than the gold version, while the polished gold case trim adds a touch of elegance compared to typical one-piece sports watches. Considering all three models, I like this last two-tone version the most.
